Qatari Field Intervention to Assist Gaza Displaced Amid Storm
The Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza has launched urgent field operations to protect displaced persons' camps from heavy rainfall.
The Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza has initiated emergency field interventions to address the impact of the current weather depression. Engineering equipment and bulldozers have been deployed to over 15 camps for displaced persons.
Operations are focused on constructing earthen barriers and clearing drainage paths for rainwater, aiming to protect tents and mitigate damage caused by the heavy downpour.
This intervention follows reports from the Gaza Government Media Office, which stated that 70,000 tents were flooded within a 12-hour period, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian crisis.
The spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense reported receiving over 2,000 distress calls since the onset of the storm, noting that field teams continue to work in coordination with relevant authorities.
Despite these efforts, shelter conditions remain dire, as ongoing restrictions on the entry of essential materials continue to hinder the ability to meet urgent needs.
