Russian Strikes Target Energy Infrastructure in Ukraine

El Fadaly News Desk ·

Russian forces launched extensive attacks on Ukraine's energy grid, causing casualties and disrupting essential services in Kyiv.

Ukrainian authorities reported that two people were killed and twelve others injured following Russian strikes on critical energy facilities during the night between Friday and Saturday.

The attacks caused significant damage to electricity transmission systems, leading to disruptions in water and heating supplies in Kyiv as temperatures neared freezing.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that explosions hit the Northern Bridge over the Dnieper River, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the state of services in the capital as extremely difficult.

President Zelenskyy noted that air defenses successfully intercepted only four out of thirty-six missiles launched during the assault.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities announced that several of their regions had been subjected to limited Ukrainian attacks.

These developments occur ahead of upcoming Russian-Ukrainian talks mediated by the United States in Abu Dhabi, which are part of a trilateral effort to discuss ways to end the war.
