Yemen: Over 281,000 Displaced Amid Escalating Humanitarian Crisis
The UN reports that more than 281,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since August, facing severe shortages of shelter and basic services.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs announced that over 281,000 people have been displaced across Yemen since the beginning of August, with Taiz Governorate hosting more than half of these individuals.
The office noted that damage to major roads over the past three weeks has significantly hindered the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
According to UN data, three-quarters of the displaced population lack adequate shelter, clean water, and essential sanitation services.
The United Nations Population Fund has raised concerns regarding the risks faced by women and girls in overcrowded displacement sites, citing a lack of privacy and separate sanitation facilities.
UN teams are actively working across eight Yemeni governorates, providing mobile protection services and screening children for malnutrition, while urgent support remains critical for thousands of displaced families.
