The quake occurred in Shizuoka Prefecture at a depth of 40 kilometers, affecting both Shizuoka and Aichi prefectures.

Local authorities confirmed that more than 20 people sustained injuries. Initial footage from the scene revealed shattered storefronts and glass debris scattered across the streets.
