Herzog Set to Task Gadi Eisenkot with Forming New Israeli Government

El Fadaly News Desk ·

Israeli President Isaac Herzog is preparing to appoint Gadi Eisenkot to form a new government after he secured a majority of parliamentary recommendations.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog is preparing to officially task Gadi Eisenkot with forming a new government, following Eisenkot's success in securing 67 recommendations from parliamentary blocs.

Meanwhile, outgoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received 46 recommendations, paving the way for Eisenkot to begin his efforts to establish a governing coalition.

Eisenkot has called for the formation of a national emergency government to address current challenges, emphasizing the necessity of engaging with all parliamentary factions to ensure the success of his mandate.

Political assessments suggest that President Herzog may intervene with his political influence should Eisenkot encounter difficulties during the formation process.

Under Israeli law, the designated candidate is granted a period of 28 days to complete the government formation process.
