Military Escalation in the Strait of Hormuz: Airstrikes and Rising Tensions

El Fadaly News Desk ·

The Strait of Hormuz and Qeshm Island are witnessing rapid military escalation following airstrikes, attacks on commercial vessels, and a significant decline in maritime traffic.

Qeshm Island and Jask Port in Iran were struck by a series of explosions caused by U.S. airstrikes over the past few hours.

In response, the Iranian military announced the destruction of a U.S. drone using a newly deployed defense system.

This escalation follows attacks on eleven commercial vessels over the past week, which resulted in a 65% drop in maritime traffic through the strait, according to British maritime trade operations.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared the lifting of range restrictions on ballistic missiles in response to the ongoing threats.

International parties are continuing mediation efforts to prevent the region from sliding into a large-scale military confrontation.
