Tehran is currently engaged in negotiations with Moscow to acquire the advanced S-400 air defense system. This move is part of Iran's efforts to strengthen its defensive posture following previous strikes on its facilities.
In pursuit of this deal, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei dispatched Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, to Moscow. Rezaei met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the specifics of the potential defense agreement.
The discussions extend beyond weaponry, encompassing regional security arrangements for the post-war period, highlighting the strengthening military cooperation between the two nations.
Leaked documents suggest the existence of Russian contracts to manufacture guided missiles for Iran, aligning with the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed by the two countries in 2025.
