Gulf States Set to Sign Agreement for Unified Railway Network
The Gulf Cooperation Council countries are preparing to sign a strategic agreement to establish a unified railway network, aiming to boost economic integration and secure supply chains.
The Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications announced that an agreement to connect Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries via a unified railway network is expected to be signed in Manama this coming Sunday.
The ambitious project aims to construct an integrated railway network spanning approximately 2,100 kilometers, linking all six member states.
The Minister emphasized that recent regional crises have underscored the importance of accelerating this strategic project to facilitate the movement of goods, passengers, and trade.
He further explained that the railway link will play a vital role in securing regional supply chains, providing a reliable alternative to overcome any potential disruptions in maritime navigation.
The project is scheduled for completion, with the entire network expected to be fully operational by 2030.
