Gadi Eisenkot has unveiled a set of core principles aimed at establishing a national emergency government in Israel, following his formal appointment by President Isaac Herzog.
The proposed framework emphasizes the recognition of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, while calling for adherence to the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence.
Eisenkot also highlighted the necessity of strengthening the Israeli military and maintaining a commitment to mandatory military service.
Expressing concern over potential delays, Eisenkot warned against the risks of prolonged negotiations or the prospect of returning to the polls.
Supported by 48 seats in the Knesset, Eisenkot has been granted a 28-day window to complete the formation of the government, with the possibility of a two-week extension.
