Zelenskyy Mandates Financial Disclosure for Security Officials Following Corruption Scandal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered mandatory financial disclosures and widespread dismissals within the security service following a major corruption investigation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has mandated that all security service personnel must disclose their assets, a move intended to bolster transparency and accountability within the agency.
The decision follows a corruption scandal known as "Operation Carthage," which the President condemned as shameful and unacceptable conduct within the security apparatus.
Zelenskyy announced that a series of widespread dismissals has commenced to ensure legal accountability, linking the internal corruption to the "Khimprom" drug trafficking network.
Ukraine is coordinating with the United States, Poland, and Germany to dismantle this criminal network. Meanwhile, prosecutors have requested the detention of former officials accused of protecting fraudulent centers and drug rings.
The suspects face charges including obstructing investigators and using weapons during search operations. Zelenskyy has vowed to pursue all those involved in illegal schemes and ensure they are punished according to the law.
