GCC Countries Sign Agreement for Unified Railway Network
GCC nations have signed a landmark agreement in Manama to establish a unified railway network, aiming to boost economic integration and streamline regional transport.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries signed the general agreement for a regional railway network in Manama this Sunday. The accord outlines the timeline and responsibilities for each member state involved in the project.
Spanning over 2,100 kilometers, the network is designed to connect the six Gulf nations, facilitating the movement of both passengers and freight across the region.
The infrastructure for this ambitious project is estimated to cost 16 billion dollars. Member states are pursuing this initiative to diversify transport routes and strengthen regional supply chains.
The project serves as a strategic response to the demands of intra-regional trade and current navigation challenges. Full operations for the railway network are expected to commence by 2030.
