Heavy Rains Flood Displaced Persons' Tents in Deir al-Balah
Heavy rainfall has flooded displacement camps in Deir al-Balah, with infrastructure failures exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in the tents of displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. The influx of water, mixed with sewage, has destroyed the personal belongings and bedding of those sheltering there.
The Palestinian Civil Defense reported receiving over 1,500 distress calls from affected individuals, as shelters struggle with a critical shortage of fuel and equipment needed for water drainage.
Displaced families are facing significant hardships in securing dry clothing and blankets for children, as current shelter conditions fail to provide adequate protection against weather fluctuations.
UN reports have previously warned that sewage networks are unable to function due to extensive damage to infrastructure.
Local authorities have also recorded partial collapses of residential buildings already weakened by previous damage, as strong winds continue to impact the area.
