Abandoned home gym equipment in Germany
A recent survey reveals that nearly half of Germans do not exercise, despite many owning specialized home fitness equipment.

Results from a YouGov survey, commissioned by Galaxus, indicate that approximately 43% of Germans do not engage in any sports activities. These figures align with similar trends across other European nations.
The data shows that owning fitness gear does not guarantee its use. 29% of participants admitted their equipment sits in plain sight unused, while 12% of owners confessed they never utilize their gear at all.
Regarding the reasons for this inactivity, reports suggest it is often a lack of motivation rather than budget constraints or space limitations. Others expressed a preference for outdoor activities or professional gyms.
The survey included 2,609 participants, with 522 from Germany, conducted between late August and early September. Popular items owned include yoga mats, weights, and jump ropes.
