Sony Raises Annual Profit Forecast to $11.8 Billion
Sony Group has increased its annual profit outlook following record-breaking results in its entertainment and gaming divisions, highlighting the success of its content-focused strategy.

Japanese tech giant Sony reported strong financial results for the quarter ending in September, significantly outperforming analyst expectations. Consequently, the company raised its annual operating profit forecast to 1.87 trillion yen, approximately $11.8 billion, marking a 15 percent increase from previous estimates.
This growth is driven by momentum in the gaming and film sectors, with the commercial success of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'Marvel’s Wolverine' boosting revenue. The music division also saw a notable surge, fueled by global interest in the catalog of the late Michael Jackson following the release of a documentary about his life.
According to Bloomberg News, these results validate Sony's strategic shift toward prioritizing entertainment content over a heavy reliance on hardware sales. Analysts note that Sony’s diversified portfolio provides a buffer against market volatility and the rising costs of global supply chains.
Investor optimism is further bolstered by the anticipation surrounding the release of 'Grand Theft Auto VI,' which is expected to drive further sales for the PlayStation 5 console. Following the announcement, Sony shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose by 7 percent.
