According to media reports, the club is facing over 100 charges related to alleged financial violations, including the creation of sham contracts to inflate sponsorship deals. The club maintains its innocence and intends to challenge the allegations legally.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that the UAE has threatened to withdraw billions in investments from the UK in response to the potential sanctions against the club, which has been under Abu Dhabi ownership since 2008.
